But there is always an exception. Ron and Joyce celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary this month. The couple, aged 102 and 100 years old is believed to be Britain’s longest-married couple. One of their skeptical friends told them at the wedding that their marriage “wouldn’t last”. Clearly, he was wrong.
After a “love at first sight meeting,” as they described it, Mr. Bond who was 21 proposed to Ms. Bond 19 in 1941.
“We never expected to reach 81 years of marriage, we know we are very fortunate to have achieved this amazing goal”. Joyce said. “It feels excellent! There is no boss in our relationship, we both give and take.”
They only have two children, Eileen and Bill.

At their eightieth anniversary, the Queen sent them a signed letter for their oak anniversary. “How wonderful to learn of your eightieth wedding anniversary on 4th January 2021. I do hope you enjoy this marvelous occasion.” She wrote.
After more than eight decades of marriage, they said that the secret of their long-lasting love affair is looking after each other.
‘My parents are a truly inspiring couple, not only to my brother and me but to their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren,” their daughter said.
