The first thing you should think about before buying a new car is safety. However, are all car factories car about safety as Tesla do?
Tesla China published a new video tour in its Gigafactory that focuses on safety in Tesla’s vehicles.
The video starts with a clip of CEO Elon Musk “We really believe at Tesla that safety has to come first. We care about you. we want you to be safe. We want your friends and family to be safe. This is paramount.”
According to him, Tesla’s vehicles got the lowest percentage of injury of any other cars that have ever been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Best ranked in safety are Model 3 and Model Y, which earned 5-Star Safety Ratings in several countries.
Why Tesla’s safety is the best in the world?
By using this data that Tesla is collecting from its fleet, it managed to design its vehicles to handle nearly every situation, even those that are not covered by safety agencies.
In addition, the video focuses on how Tesla can protect its drivers and occupants in case of an accident. Tesla is using a mix of steel and aluminum for its structure. Tesla made 60% of the car of ultra-strength and high-strength steel. That will minimize the damages of the car in a crash.

Since Tesla vehicles do not have engines, the crumple zone in the front of the car cabin is allowed to absorb an extra force while holding more crumple structures at the same time.
Tesla’s engineers in China shared in-depth details like how they design the vehicles to be that safe. One important point is that the company designed the car doors to open even after a collision. They surely didn’t forget the protection of the battery pack underneath the floorboard. In Tesla, they use laser penetration welding, which is a special technique to secure 1700 MPa grade martensite steel.
After all that we can say that Tesla goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of its customers.
