We have heard before about women who give birth in cars, but this story is a little bit different. Yiran Sherry gave birth while her Tesla car in autopilot.
Yiran Sherry has given birth in the front seat of a Tesla car. Till now the story is like any other, but the special thing is that no one was driving. On September 9, Yiran Sherry, 33, and her husband Keating Sherry, 34, were on their way to pick their three-year-old son Rafa to pre-school. The Tesla baby story went viral.
While the family was stuck in traffic, the mother’s waters broke. She knew it was the time as the contractions increased rapidly. But the couple was sure that they were not going to make it to the hospital in time.
Thanks to Tesla, she could make it safely
Fortunately, they were in Tesla. Mr. Sherry placed the car on autopilot and set the navigation system to the hospital. He gingerly kept his left hand on the wheel, while tending towards his suffering wife in labor and his little boy in the back seat.
“Should I push or should I hold? Should I push or should I hold? let’s do this,” she said to herself. The decision of whether to try or to wait until they reached the hospital was troublesome.
It was the longest 20 minutes in their life since Mrs. Sherry kept watching their estimated arrival time which was barely moving.

As they arrived at the hospital, Yiran whispered “Oh, my God, Keating. She’s out.” Nurses cut the baby girl’s umbilical over the front seat of the vehicle. The pediatrician who was there assured the parents that the baby was safe and healthy.
Yiran said, in the hospital nurses kept coming into her room to see Maeve Lily, or “Tesla baby” as they called her.
“Thank you genius Tesla engineers for your brilliant design of autopilot,” Mr. Sherry said.
The family will keep their Tesla until their little baby turn 16. “I wouldn’t be too surprised if, in the year 2037, Maeve is getting her permit with that Tesla,” Keating Sherry said.
