Imagine yourself to be the richest person in the world, yet you don’t own a house, just like Elon Musk.
During an interview with TED, the non-profit organization which is famous for its popular “TED Talks” and conference, Elon Musk discussed his successful life.
Musk responded to a question about people who might be offended by his extraordinary wealth, by saying that he sees flaws in those beliefs. He also mentioned that he doesn’t spend a lot of his money on personal consumption.
“In fact, I don’t even own a home right now. I’m literally staying at friends’ places,” he said. “If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla engineering is, I basically rotate through friends’ spare bedrooms.” Musk said.

He even doesn’t own a yacht or takes vacations. Musk only owns a plane because “If I don’t use the plane, I have less hours to work.”
On its latest billionaire rankings, Bloomberg report that Tesla’s CEO has a net worth of $261 billion.
This interview came after concern about the rising wealth of billionaires in general including Musk. Economic justice and advocacy group Oxfam released a report in January. This report found that during the pandemic the 10 richest men in the world doubled their fortunes. While 99% of people’s incomes dipped.
“We are all attempting to give away a fortune that was enabled by systems in need of change”. Wrote MacKenzie Scott, a billionaire who has donated chunks of her fortune to various organizations, in a Medium post. “In this effort, we are governed by a humbling belief that it would be better if disproportionate wealth were not concentrated in a small number of hands.”
