5 Pieces of Advice From Elon Musk to Young People

Having advice from the man of the year, the wealthiest person in the world, and the most successful entrepreneur of all time sounds amazing.

What if all the above were in one man, and this man is going to give tips to become successful. I think you should read carefully especially if you wish to be like Elon Musk.

In an episode of the “Lex Fridman Podcast”, the host asked Musk to give advice for young people in high school or college who want to be successful and have a positive impact on the world.

Musk shared five main tips he thinks would help the youngest to become successful. Here they are:

1. Be useful

The first piece of advice is so simple and really useful. “Do things that are useful to your fellow human beings, to the world,” Musk told Fridman. “It’s hard to be useful — very hard.”
The billionaire emphasized this point by saying that if we live a useful life, it’s a “life worth having lived,”.

2. Contribute to society

The second one was that people should contribute more than they consume. “Try to have a positive net contribution to society, That’s something to aim for,” Musk told Fridman. Musk also said that he has “a lot of respect for someone who puts in an honest day’s work.”

3. Don’t try to be a leader

For the third piece of advice, Musk went to young people for not trying to be a leader just to have a leader name. “A lot of the time, the people you want as leaders are the people who don’t want to be leaders,” he said.

4. Read books

Since a lot of young people spend most of their time on social media, I think the fourth piece of advice is so important.

“I would encourage people to read a lot of books,” Musk said. “Try to ingest as much information as you can, and try to also develop a good general knowledge so you at least have a rough lay of the land of the knowledge landscape.”

He even told Fridman that when he was a kid, he was reading through the encyclopedia.

5. Talk to people

The final piece of advice from the man of the year to young people is to talk to others. “Talk to people from different walks of life and different industries and professions and skills, Learn as much as possible.” Musk said.

What do you think about these pieces of advice? Which one is the most you like?
