Cocobo is a new Japanese robot introduced by the safety firm SECOM. It was designed to keep peace and security in public areas.
The main purpose of this robot is a replacement of resident safety guards to do patrols and inspection work. By using an AI system, Cocobo can give visible, audio, and even smoke warning to suspicious people. It is able to work at a pace of 6km/h. The step can run about 50mm to catches the bad guys with the help of cutting-edge know-how.
In the quest to create a robot that can collaborate and talk with people, the designers focused on some principles when they programed Cocobo. The most important principles are ‘harmony with public spaces’ and ‘dignity and friendliness’.

While Cocobo is doing its usual patrol route, the AI evaluation is also doing its job by taking photographs captured using an onboard digital camera. It does so to detect trash, falls, and deserted objects. The friendly robot is waterproof and could run outside on unstraight roads, and of course, it can avoid obstacles and collisions. The battery of Cocobo can hold for three hours, and when it feels that vitality range is low, it returns to the charging stand by itself.
Cocobo has access to information on the cloud, to remind people of safety methods. By cooperating with people, this robot can make a friendly environmental improvement and high-quality enhancement in different safety operations.
